Benefits of Hiring a Professional Photographer

Training/Education: Professional photographers have spent many hours learning techniques to create beautiful photos and develop their own style. This goes way further than just having a “fancy” camera. The person behind the camera is way more valuable than the camera itself. This is because the professional shoots in manual, not auto (tells the camera what to do). They know the right settings to make that photograph memorable; by choosing the appropriate exposure, composition, and focal point, to name a few.

Style:  This is VERY important! So, please make sure you choose the right photographer for your vision. Take a look through their photos and if you love their work, take time to get to know the photographer, and ask them about their style! Every professional photographer has developed their own style. This comes with defining who they are as a creative and knowing their vision. I personally aim to provide you with timeless photos through genuine relationships, joyful moments, and a memorable experience. I live for those sentimental moments;  capturing dad wiping tears from his daughters face as they walk down the isle, or when the groom tears up the moment he sees his bride for the first time, or  when mom helps her little girl put on her stunning dress. I love joyful, emotion filled images! If you enjoy laughing, having fun, making memories, and you live for sentimental moments, you are definitely my kind of couple!

Experience: Wedding photographers have worked countless weddings so they have an idea of how the day should flow. They will help to provide you with tips to make the timeline run smoothly and provide you with options you should consider.

Professional Equipment: Multiple lens, lighting gear, back-up bodies, (only to name a few, the list is so long!) are so vital for weddings. Hiring a photographer that has the required knowledge will make a huge difference. Professionals spend valuable time and money not only on continuing their education through workshops, but also sending their gear in for cleanings. Just a note, running a small business isn’t cheap; professionals invest a lot of their time and money into equipment, business licenses, website, insurance, editing software, batteries, memory cards, the list goes on and on.

I absolutely understand not every couple has a wedding budget that fits with hiring a professional photographer, so, here are some tips to help your budget go a little further:

• Choose an off-season, mid-week, or Friday wedding. These are typically discounted by venues.
• Ask your photographer if they take payment plans. Some photographers will allow you to pay in installments spreading out the cost.
• Book a smaller package. I highly recommend booking a full day package, however, if your budget is tight, book the smallest package or pay hourly.
