Your first look is an amazing part of your wedding day and I want to be sure to educate you on how you can make it even more memorable! Before we get to the tips, for those who don’t know, a first look is a private moment between the bride and groom to see each other before the ceremony. Typically, being photographed by their wedding photographer. Not only does a first look add a sweet memory to your wedding day, but also reduces stress! One of my absolute favorite moments of the day!! Keep on reading to find out how to make it even more memorable.
- Don’t rush it. Take as much time as you want!
I always encourage my couples to take as much time as they would like during the first look. I want my couples to enjoy this magical moment because it’s most likely the only private moment they’ll have together all day!! So, Tauri Baum Bride’s and Groom’s remember to hug a little longer than normal, spin each other around, kiss like no one is watching, and bask in the beauty that your day is finally here!!
- Read personal vows or a note to each other.
Recently, a few of my couples have decided to either read a note to each other or their own personal vows. I can’t tell you how much I LOVE this!!! Not going to lie; it’s made me tear up… every single time! It makes the first look an even more intimate, meaningful moment.
- Keep it just between you and your bride/groom.
I am almost positive you’ll have a family and/or bridal party member ask if they can watch your first look. However, I encourage you to keep it private between you and your groom/bride (and us photographers/videographers) because again, it makes it more intimate and stress-free! You won’t have to worry about people watching and you can take as much time as you want. Just tell them they can see the photos later 😉
- Give each other Wedding Day gifts during this time.
Don’t feel like you have to give each other gifts on your wedding day. Not all of my couples do, but if it’s something you want to incorporate into the day – present them to each other during the first look so you can see each other’s reactions!
