Senior Session Tips | Part One

Portrait

#1 START PREPARING A FEW DAYS BEFORE

The most important part of looking (and feeling) good at your senior shoot is drinking lots of water and getting rest! Everyone looks better when they’re treating their body right. Drinking water and getting rest will help make your eyes brighter, get rid of those pesky bags we all have, and will make your skin more healthy-looking too! It’s amazing what the camera picks up on.

#2 APPLY YOUR MAKEUP IN FRONT OF A WINDOW (IF YOU’RE NOT GOING TO A PROFESSIONAL).

You’re most likely going to be taking photos outside, so make sure you apply your makeup in as similar lighting as possible! This will ensure you have a nice, even application that will look great on the camera. If you are uncertain about wearing your hair up or down, start with it down and then pull it up mid-session (or even better if you have two sessions booked). We always recommend makeup for our ladies. Professional makeup will not only make you feel fantastic, but it also photographs better. If you choose to do your own makeup, do put a little extra on, but don’t over do it. Feel free to bring extra for touch ups, but please arrive camera ready. Also, don’t forget to do your nails!!

#3 GET YOUR MAKEUP & HAIR PROFESSIONALLY DONE

Having professional makeup and hair styling truly elevates your senior portrait experience. Make Up Artist & Hair Stylist will take into consideration where we’re going and what you’re wearing to create the perfect look for your session. Plus, this makes the day-of prep less stressful, all you have to do is sit back, relax, and let the glam begin. If you are looking for Make Up or Hair Stylists, no worries! I’d love to provide you with great ones!!

#4 HAVE FUN

I just want to have fun with you! This isn’t a stuffy, formal photo shoot. This is a celebration of who you are, in this moment. So, get ready for some laughter, and enjoy all of the poses and fun times! I thrive on capturing the joyful, real, and authentic you. I want to see how your dress twirls, how the wind blows through your hair, and what true happiness looks like on your gorgeous face. Let’s have some fun!

#5 DON’T LET YOUR LIPS GET WASHED OUT!

This is even for the guys!! Chapstick or a slight gloss looks great in photos. Bring your favorite tinted lip balm or light gloss along! Ladies, I’m never opposed to a bright statement lip either if that is your thing 🙂

xo,
