I am always looking on ways to help my #tauribaumbride’s make their wedding day even better. So, today I’m providing tips that involve the morning of your wedding day and how to make the best of your wedding photos while getting ready!

The getting ready location should be spacious (not cluttered) and full of natural light.
It’s helpful if you get ready in a space with natural light. To be honest, the basement of your church with florescent lights is not ideal. A room filled with lots of windows and space is always the best option. For example, a living room in your home or a hotel room are great spots! This not only benefits you with gorgeous photos, but also helps out your hair and make up artist. I highly recommend having all of your getting ready photos done by a window! I promise you’ll love the results!
There are lots of options to choose from when selecting a location to get ready in, make sure you choose one that will reflect the look and feel of your wedding day. You may have spent hours selecting the perfect ceremony and reception location and you will want to choose the getting ready location with the same care. This is the room that starts off your beautiful heirloom wedding album! All of the beautiful memories you’ll have with your bridesmaids and mom.
A hotel room is not only convenient at saving time, but it also a great place to celebrate your extra special day. It also saves time as I can easily go from room to room photographing you getting ready and capturing your soon-to-be hubby. The rooms will be full of light, have luxurious clean lines, and less clutter which helps make for beautiful backdrops that will highlight your happiness throughout the day.
For many couples however, getting ready at home adds an element of sentiment to their day (you know I love this!). Whether it’s the house you share with your future husband or the house you grew up in with your parents, it can be extra special to spend your last unmarried moments in this space. Being in a familiar surrounding can help calm your nerves and if you realize you’re missing something, it will be much easier to find at home rather than at a hotel!
If you do decide to get ready at home, it is super important you carefully consider the room so we can create the best getting ready photos possible. Clean lines and clutter-free backdrops are a must. This will allow you to be the focus of the images. Rooms with lots of natural light streaming in will result in the most captivating images.
Here’s a recap 😉 I can’t stress this enough! Find a room with great natural ambient (or window) light. For lovely, flattering photographs, nothing is better than natural light. Choose a location with light, neutral-colored walls (no clutter!) and large windows to make best use of the natural light on your wedding day.
Extra Tips:
- Make sure your bridesmaid and mom are all dressed and hair/make up done before you put your dress on. This way they can be included in some of those photos.
- Make sure to have all of the bridal details ready and in one place as soon as I arrive. This makes it easier on everyone because you won’t have to wonder where they are!
- Have your flowers delivered to the place you are getting ready at! This way we can include your beautiful bouquet in bridal details and for your first look/bridesmaid photos 🙂
- Have your florist leave out extra blooms so I can incorporate them when photographing your invitation suite.
As my brides know, always feel free to reach out with any questions! I love to help in any way I can. Love you all!!
