Ten Things to do Shortly After your Wedding

Brides

  1. Check your social media and wedding hashtag!
    • This was and still is so much fun to look back at! I highly recommend having a wedding hashtag. It’s an easy way to see all of the memories from your day. There may be images that you really like and want to save, so be sure to check it as soon as you can. Trust me, each time you look back at it all the sweet memories come flooding back. It’s so special!!
  2. Write and mail out Thank you’s.
    • I know this is such a tedious task but I promise you’ll be happy you got in done within the first month! To make it easier, I recommend dividing and conquering. If you each put aside 15 minutes a day, you can probably knock out at least 10 together. Open a bottle of wine or make a cup of coffee, do it together, and soon you’ll be back to using all your new gifts rather than writing about them.
  3. Use those gift cards and coupons and buy the items on your registry that are a MUST.
    • Based on the store, some of the places Brian and I registered at provided discounts for any items still left on the registry! We used this to our advantage by snagging the items we really needed! Tauri Baum Bride’s – there is a thread in our private Facebook group talking about our favorite items that our couples use from their registry! Just search it in the search box.
  4. Thank and review your vendors.
    • While it’s still fresh in your mind, take the time to review the people who worked hard to make your wedding come together. I’m talking about your catering company, your hair stylist, your makeup artist, your wedding planner, your photographer, etc. Other couples will appreciate your real feedback, and your vendors will love the potential to grow their business. As a vendor, this truly means the world to us!!
  5. Pick out your wedding photos for your wedding album.
    • And let me do the rest of the work! I’ll create a flow of the day that tells the story and all you have to do is approve it! Make this a priority otherwise five years will go by and you’ll still be without printed photos or an album. Promise me, you’ll be glad you did!
  6. Have your wedding dress cleaned and preserved.
    • Your wedding dress was made for you. You got dressed in it with your closest friends and family by your side, you got married to your best friend in it, and you danced the night away in it! There were so many sweet memories made in that dress, it deserves to be cleaned up and preserved!
  7. Freeze your wedding cake to eat together on your first anniversary.
    • This is such a fun tradition! I highly recommend saving the top part of your wedding cake and freezing it for your one year anniversary. Wrap the cake in several layers of plastic wrap and seal it in an airtight bag. Brian and I enjoyed our cake and even had it at our one year anniversary session. We also had an amazing cake company (shout out to Connie’s Cakes) who baked us a one year anniversary cake! So sweet!
  8. Change your name on your accounts.
    • You’ve already changed your Facebook and Instagram handle and now it’s time to update all of those other documents such as, your social security card, drivers license, bank account, etc. Just be sure to have your original marriage license with the raised seal and your new last name on it.
  9. Sell or donate your wedding decor.
    • If you aren’t attached to certain wedding decor such as table numbers, signage, candles or any other miscellaneous decor consider selling or giving them to other brides! There are so many sites you can sell them on, I’ve seen them on West Michigan Bride on Facebook.
  10. Share your wedding photos!
    • It seriously makes my heart explode with so much JOY when I see my couples post their wedding images, make them their profile pictures and share them with their friends and family. Even years after their wedding day, it still makes my heart so happy!!
