Let me start this post by saying I always tell my Tauri Baum Brides and Grooms that I honor and 100% respect whichever decision they choose (having a first look or not). Every wedding and couple is beautifully different and I absolutely want what’s best for them. So, when you become a #tauribaumbride, I’ll educate you the best I can to make the decision that’s right for you and your fiancé. I remember, being a past bride myself, wedding planning can be over whelming at times, so I love to provide some guidance about a first look. I hope you find this information useful to help you make the best decision for your wedding.

Now, what is a first look?! If you’ve never heard this term before, a first look is a private moment between the bride and groom to see each other before the ceremony. Typically, being photographed by your wedding photographer.

With that being said here are a few reasons why you’ll be happy you did a first look:

1. The first time you see each other is private and shared just between the two of you. This is typically the only ALONE time you have with your groom all day!
   • You can hug, cry, and laugh together which sets you up for beautiful romantic portraits. With a first look, you’ll also receive more portraits of you two because we will have more time to create beautiful photos since most of the pictures can be done before the ceremony!
2. You will both look your freshest (hair and makeup just done!)
   • I don’t know about you, but in the warmer months, I sweat, ha! So, this is just a warning to my summer/fall brides out there to really consider this because your hair/makeup could be ruined due to humidity or sweat!!
3. The nerves of seeing each other for the first time will be gone and then you can simply look forward to and enjoy your ceremony.
   • This has been especially true with some of my past grooms. At the first thought of this, they weren’t sure about it because they typically have never heard about it. However, after the tips I provided them, discussing their wedding day timeline and them actually experiencing it; They end up telling me they wouldn’t have done it any other way!!
4. You can schedule all of the wedding party photos before the ceremony, so afterwards, all the formal images left to take are family photos. That way you’ll be able to head to the reception quickly instead of having your guests wait a longer period of time. This provides you with so many more portraits and time with your guests!!
   • This is truly a win for everyone and I love it because it doesn’t make the day seem as rushed!!
5. It is a great trail run of walking around and moving in your dress before you have to do it in front of everyone at the ceremony! 
   • This automatically ensures that you will feel more comfortable and at ease!
