This post has been a long time coming. We had the opportunity to visit four BEAUTIFUL islands of Hawaii this past May for our anniversary trip and I’m excited to share part ONE of four with you today! The first island we visited was Oahu, Hawaii.
We flew into Honolulu after a crazy traveling day. It was about an 8 hour flight from Houston, TX but unfortunately, we had crazy thunderstorms so we ended up waiting on the plane for an extra three hours before we could leave. So, let me just tell you we were very tired when we arrived. We received flower lays as soon as we arrived from our taxi driver (my mom surprised us with these!) and got checked in to our hotel and immediately went to dinner. We were quite hungry!!
*These photos are a mix of iPhone and my big girl camera 😉
Right after we exited the plane! My parents got married in May too so they came along and we celebrated both of our anniversaries!! So special 🙂Â
Of course we had to find cute coffee shops! We ended up going to this one every morning while we stayed on Oahu! Highly recommend.
This was the view from our hotel room.
Before our visit to Pearl Harbor, we took a tour and got to see Honolulu sites!
 Pearl Harbor is a MUST!
 The memorialÂ
Names of the fallen soldiers displayed inside the memorialÂ
Oil still leaks from the USS Arizona into the water.
These trees were everywhere! As banyan trees grow, they drop aerial roots to the ground from the undersides of their branches. When these roots touch the ground, they thicken and grow into the earth, forming a new trunk. It’s so cool!
One morning after our Kona coffee, we hiked Diamond Head. Highly recommend doing this hike and doing it right away in the morning! We started right away and were still soaked in sweat so I could not imagine doing it in the middle of the day.Â
As we hiked up, we saw this cute dog harness and of course being the dog lover I am, I had to grab a photo 😉
 Views from Diamond Head!
After the hike, we ran into a Farmer’s Market. We tried fresh mango, coffee, and a smoothie! So delicious! If you ever run into these, check them out! So cool!
After the hike, we had time to explore the main shops/restaurants by the beach and we laid out on the famous Waikiki Beach!
This Hula Pie dessert deserves its own blog post, I am not even kidding!! One of the BEST desserts I’ve ever had. We found it on two islands in Hawaii so I got to have it twice and I don’t regret it one bit! If you ever go to Oahu or Kauai, you must head to Duke’s and try it for yourself!! Oreo crust, Macadamia nut ice cream and hot fudge… need I say more 😉
Stay tuned for parts two, three, & four!! They involve AMAZING views!!! Can’t wait to share 🙂
